First cycling memory
Not sure why this is imprinted on my memory but many many years ago when I was a kid I had a 3 wheeled trike, a decent one with pedals and a chain drive I hasten to add, with a box on the back I managed to stack going round a corner resulting in stitches to my head.
Favourite bike
I rode it fairly recently and to be honest technology as left it behind but I have a real soft spot for my old Klein Attitude Comp (I still have it in a shed somewhere in the Blue Mountains). I probably did more miles on that than any other bike before or since. Lots of road as well as off the beaten track, mostly in the Lake District.
Top climb
Helvellyn. Most folk outside of the UK don’t seem to know you can ride up Helvellyn in the Lakes. I say ride, I think if I’m honest I did a bit of carrying too. Most of my road climbs have been tiddlers. I used to ride a lot in the Ribble Valley and the highest peak there was Pendle Hill at a massive 557m.
One thing on your bucket list
A Tuscany ride would be perfect for me. Love the countryside and the history, the walled cities, the summer weather and it’s the home of my favourite ever wine (Brunello di Montalcino).
A special skill you bring on tour
Helping to bring them alive through the tour documents I put together
Favourite Ride & Seek tour gastronomic experience
Anything linked to Tuscany a and a fine bottle of Brunello
Languages
Very pathetically English and it’s little know local version - Lanky Twang.
Ride & Seek tours you lead REMOVE??
I don't lead any, but feel I could given the time I take tinkering with the itineraries when helping to design them!
